REGARDLESS OF THEIR FAMILY’S FINANCIAL SITUATION

With nearly a third of our students attending BUA with the support of tuition assistance, we are very much in line with the top schools in our market. We have not had a financial aid waitlist in several years – one of the few schools that can say that. We have an opportunity to be a true leader in this area and open the doors even wider to the most promising, mission-aligned young people in our area. With vision and investment, BUA can maintain its ability to fund every qualified student regardless of their family’s financial situation, even as our reputation and outreach into traditionally underrepresented communities grow; ensure that we avoid the “barbell effect” in socioeconomic representation on campus and preserve a middle-class presence; and work toward a need-blind posture.

  • Continuing to say “yes” and fund the full need of all qualified students in our applicant pool, with no financial aid waitlist, even as demand for support grows

  • Providing holistic support so that the full experience is accessible to all students

  • Ensuring representation of the middle class and resisting the “barbell” effect

  • Moving toward a need-blind posture

Objectives

Holistic Financial Aid: With the support of several donors in our community, BUA has recently dramatically expanded its support for areas outside tuition assistance, like laptop computers, lunch grants, global travel.
